In January-March 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 4 billion 783 million, 22.1% higher to the same period of 2022, - according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
According to the document, exports had only 30.5% share in the external merchandise trade. In the January-March, exports amounted to USD 1 billion 461 million, which was 24.7% higher than the data of 1Q2022, while imports amounted to USD 3 billion 322 million and the increase was 21%.
In the first quarter of 2023, in January-March 2023 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 411.8 million with 28.2% of total exports. The exports of copper ores and concentrates totaled USD 205.7 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 14.1%. The exports ferro-alloys occupied the third place standing at USD 81.8 million and constituting 5.6% of the total exports.
