The number of fines issued for fare evasion on Tbilisi's public transport increased sharply in the first half of 2026.
According to the Treasury of Georgia's Ministry of Finance, revenue from fare evasion fines reached GEL 1.66 million between January and June, up 68% compared to the same period last year.
As the fine for traveling without a valid ticket is GEL 20, the figures indicate that more than 83,000 fines were issued during the six-month period.
Ticket inspections on Tbilisi's public transport network are carried out by the monitoring service of Tbilisi Transport Company.
