GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the government’s approach to combating corruption goes beyond arrests, focusing instead on prevention, transparency, and systemic reforms.
“There were personnel changes at various levels, which, among other things, served to ensure against corruption risks. Since February 8, all government decisions and legal acts have been fully open and public. The practice of direct sales has been completely eliminated. This was also an anti-corruption measure. In addition, we have annual savings of 700 million GEL in state-owned enterprises alone, not only through personnel optimization, but also by cutting unnecessary expenses,” Kobakhidze told journalists.
Kbakhize emphasized that the government is following the guidance of Bidzina Ivanishvili, who called for stronger anti-corruption efforts two years ago.
“In all directions, we are not only fighting corruption, but also taking preventive measures. We are not only investigating past crimes, but ensuring that corruption has no place in government structures. This is ensured by transparency, personnel decisions, and reforms implemented both in state enterprises and ministries,” Kobakhidze said.
According to him, the government has set an ambitious goal , for Georgia to rank among the top three countries in Europe with the lowest corruption levels.
