On May 31, the first cargo truck from Shanghai arrived in Yerevan, having passed through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran as part of the "Crossroads of Peace" project initiated by the Armenian government, reports "Armenpress." The journey took approximately 20 days.

The event marking the truck's arrival was attended by the ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Armenia, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia. The Ministry emphasized the importance of the event and the significance of the project for the country.

The cargo was loaded in Shanghai and sent to Khorgos, where it underwent customs procedures and was transferred to a Kazakh truck. The truck then continued its journey through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, clearing all customs and border checkpoints.

Armen Sahakyan, the founding director of the company responsible for the transportation, reported that despite some issues, the cargo arrived in Yerevan without serious obstacles. The journey took 20-22 days, and all problems were successfully resolved.

Earlier, BMG reported that in late October 2023, Armenia presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project, which essentially is the Armenian version of a project aimed at unlocking communications in the region after the 44-day war. From Yerevan's point of view, this is one of the components of the process of establishing a durable peace in the South Caucasus, and if implemented, it could change Armenia's status, helping it to emerge from isolation and become a logistical hub in the region.
