Food and Restaurants Account for Largest Share of Increased Cashless Spending in August - TBC Capital Total cashless spending

Spending through TBC Bank channels increased by 20% year-on-year in August 2026, while the number of cashless transactions rose by 16%, according to TBC Capital’s August consumer spending review.

Residents accounted for 79% of total cashless spending through TBC Bank channels, while non-residents made up 21%. Food accounted for the largest share of spending at 26%, followed by restaurants at 17%.

Cashless spending on food increased by 19% year-on-year, with average spending per transaction reaching GEL 18. Inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages stood at 5% in August. Overall, consumer goods accounted for 60% of total cashless spending, while services represented 40%.

Food also accounted for 44% of total cashless spending on goods through TBC Bank channels in August, according to TBC Capital.
