Forbes named the 10 best places in Europe to spend New Year’s Eve, among them is Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.
The travel experts polled a panel of 11,963 travellers from 112 countries, mainly from the United Kingdom (22,42%) and the United States (18,91%) and found the top destination to count down the 2024 New Year.
According to the poll, the Portuguese island of Madeira is the best place to see the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display. Marbella (Spain) follows Madeira with London ranking number three and Lisbon (Portugal) fourth. Tbilisi ranks 5th.
“Tbilisi is probably the most original choice in this ranking, a trend that is also due to the attractive prices of accommodation (up to five times cheaper than in London or Paris with a stay in a five-star hotel in Tbilisi for the price of a three-star in Berlin), safety (low crime rates) and easy access for British and American travellers (special non-visa regulations).
It’s also a favorite destination for foodies and wine lovers. Sublimely decorated for Christmas and New Year celebrations, Tbilisi extends the Christmas spirit until mid-January. Many public concerts are organized to celebrate the New Year, the Christmas market of Tbilisi ranks among the most beautiful in Europe,” Forbes says.
Prague (Czech Republic), Ibiza (Spain), Sao Miguel (Azores), Edinburgh (Scotland) and Porto (Portugal) are in the same rating.
