Foreign tourists’ cashless spending in Georgia continued to grow strongly in August 2026, rising 26% year-on-year, while the number of cashless transactions increased by 30%, according to TBC Capital’s report. The faster growth in transaction numbers suggests tourism activity remained strong, although average spending per transaction declined. Adjara continued to lead in average transaction value.
In Tbilisi, hotel spending increased by 13% year-on-year, with average spending reaching GEL 728, while restaurant spending rose by 54%, with an average transaction of GEL 78. In Adjara, hotel spending jumped by 54% to an average of GEL 1,019 per transaction, while restaurant spending declined 6%, with the average transaction at GEL 156.
Kakheti also recorded growth, with cashless spending at hotels increasing 17% year-on-year to an average of GEL 565 per transaction. Restaurant spending in the region rose by 38%, with average spending reaching GEL 119.
TBC Capital expects tourism spending growth to continue in Tbilisi and Kakheti during the autumn season, while activity in Adjara is expected to slow following the peak summer period. The figures are based on spending through TBC Bank channels, including POS terminals and e-commerce, and may differ slightly from overall market trends.
