Georgian banks’ combined profit reached 1.54 billion GEL in January–May 2026, according to financial data submitted to the National Bank. This represents a 21% increase, or 272 million GEL, compared to the same period last year.
Out of 19 commercial banks operating in the country, 15 were profitable while 4 reported losses. The highest profit was recorded by Bank of Georgia at 819 million GEL, up 25% year-on-year. TBC Bank followed with 562 million GEL (+16%), while Basisbank ranked third with 62 million GEL, marking a 53% increase. Liberty Bank’s profit fell by 19% to 42 million GEL.
Among loss-making banks were Paysera Bank, Hash Bank, Silk Bank, and VTB Bank Georgia. The largest loss - 26 million GEL - was reported by VTB Bank Georgia in the first five months of 2026.
Overall, the data reflects continued concentration of profitability in the largest commercial banks, while smaller players and some foreign-linked institutions remain under pressure.
