Georgia’s banking sector recorded 1.17 billion GEL in profit during January–April 2026, according to data submitted to the National Bank. This represents a 16.7% annual increase, or 166.6 million GEL more than the same period last year. Out of 19 commercial banks, 15 operated profitably, while 4 reported losses.

The Bank of Georgia remained the top performer with 603 million GEL in profit, up 16% year-on-year. TBC Bank followed with 444 million GEL, marking a 15% increase. Basisbank ranked third, earning 38 million GEL, a 25% rise. In contrast, Liberty Bank saw its profit fall 28% to 29 million GEL.

Among the loss-making institutions were Paysera Bank, Hashbank, Silk Bank, and VTB Bank Georgia. VTB posted the largest loss at 15.4 million GEL over the four-month period.

The figures highlight a sector that remains strongly profitable overall, despite continued pressure on a handful of smaller or restructuring banks.
