Four candidates have applied for a vacant position on Georgia’s National Communications Commission (ComCom). The applicants are Ani Vazagashvili, Giorgi Elisashvili, Ioseb Abuladze, and Solomon Ekvitimishvili.
According to their submitted profiles, Vazagashvili is the head of the legal departments at TV companies Imedi and Maestro, while Elisashvili has served as financial director at GDS since 2013. Ekvitimishvili currently leads the finance department at a media holding company, and Abuladze heads internal audit at Open Heart University Hospital, with prior experience at ComCom between 2000 and 2016.
The vacancy was announced on February 11, with applications closing on March 12. The position opened as current commission member Vakhtang Abashidze’s term nears its end.
Under the selection process, a shortlist of at least three candidates will be submitted to the government, then forwarded to the president, with the final appointment to be approved by parliament.
