The Investigative Committee of Armenia has uncovered a major tax evasion scheme related to the import of goods.

According to the agency’s report, four companies imported products from Georgia but declared them as imports from EAEU countries, which allowed them to significantly reduce their tax payments.

The investigation revealed that the companies declared goods worth approximately $731,000, paying only $92,000 in taxes. However, the actual value of the imported products was about $2 million. As a result, $453,000 in tax payments should have been made to Armenia’s state budget.

Due to this fraudulent scheme, the total damage to the state amounted to $361,000. So far, $279,000 has been recovered.

It is reported that the Investigative Committee is continuing its investigation into the case.
