Valeri Chekheria, CEO of Rooms Hotel declares that the tourist segment has changed in 2023 compared to previous years due to the unstable situation in the region. As he notes the hotel chain expected to receive a large number of tourists from Europe, but they failed because of the Russia-Ukraine War, as tourists from Europe refrain from traveling to Georgia.
According to the manager of Rooms Hotel, the occupancy rate of the hotel is different in Tbilisi and the regions. As of Valeri Chekheria, 30-35% of bookings in the region accounts for Georgian tourists.
"30-35% of the guests account for Georgian travelers, followed by Russian tourists. As well as we have guests from Thailand, Gulf countries, China and Japan... The situation is different in Tbilisi, we have expected tourists from Europe, but the capital city is mostly visited from Israel, the Gulf and Arab countries," Chekheria said.
Accoridng to him, Georgia has a good tourist potential, but the country needs a good marketing campaign in order to attract a flow of tourists to the country.
