Valeri Chekheria, director of Rooms Hotel declares, that hotels in Tbilisi and the regions work with different workloads because August is a passive period for tourism in the capital city.

Speaking to BM.GE, Valeri Checheria also says that in the case of Tbilisi, they had better expectations, which were not fulfilled.

"Hotel occupancy is different in Tbilisi and regions. We do not have a high workload in Tbilisi in August, historically, August is considered a low season in Tbilisi, but this year we had higher expectations. We expected the hotel occupancy rate would reach 70%, while this figure stands at 55-60%," says Checheria, adding that the hotel in Kazbegi is operating at high occupancy.

The director of Rooms Hotel also evaluates the activity of tourists according to the countries and notes that they do not have European, high-spending tourists in the hotel, despite the fact that they are working on attracting the guests of this market with marketing campaigns.

"The low occupancy in Tbilisi is due to the lack of European tourists and business travelers.

As for the load according to the countries, since we are promoting our Georgian brand hotels in the European market, we are trying to bring high-spending tourists. We do not host organized groups, such as the so-called groups from the Gulf countries. We were expecting tourist flows from Europe in this part, but there are actually no European tourists," explains the director of Rooms Hotel.
