Valeri Chekheria, executive director of Rooms Hotel, states that the re-resubmission of the draft law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" in the parliament already had an impact on the business.

Chekheria told BM.GE, that Rooms hotels have been emptied. A representative of the tourism industry hopes that everything will be over soon and declares that "our path is to Europe".

"In these two days, the restaurants and hotels got empty, all conferences and events are canceled. This means that such decisions are very painful for businesses. I hope it will not continue like this. I think our path is to Europe.

Our customers are mostly organizations that work in Georgia, or local people. These events are canceled because no one feels like going to a party in such a situation. Such a situation exists throughout Georgia, especially in Kazbegi and Tbilisi.

What is happening in the country is very painful for me," said Chekheria.

The Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia considered and approved the draft law On Transparency of Foreign Influence in the first reading after a 12-hour-long discussion.

The amendments provide for the registration of non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entities and media as “the organizations pursuing the interests of a foreign power” if a certain amount of their income, over 20 percent, is received from abroad.
