Georgia imported 6,288 tonnes of frozen chicken meat worth $11.38 million from January to August 2026, according to trade data. Compared with the same period of 2025, import value increased by 23.8%, while volume rose by 18.6% from 5,298 tonnes.
Ukraine was the largest supplier, accounting for 4,568 tonnes worth $8.3 million, or about 73% of total imports. Turkey ranked second with 954 tonnes worth $1.6 million, followed by Russia with 459 tonnes worth $921,000. Brazil and the Netherlands were also among the top suppliers.
Frozen chicken exports also increased during the first eight months of 2026. Georgia exported 475 tonnes worth $448,500, up by 57.2% in volume and 43.1% in value from 302 tonnes and $313,200 a year earlier. Guinea was the largest destination with 226 tonnes, followed by Liberia with 117 tonnes, while the UAE, Armenia, Ghana and Azerbaijan also imported Georgian frozen chicken.
Meanwhile, imports of chilled chicken fell to zero in January-August 2026, compared with 300 kilograms worth $800 a year earlier. Chilled chicken exports also declined sharply, from 996 tonnes worth $1.6 million in 2025 to 128 tonnes worth $217,000 in 2026, representing annual decreases of 87.1% in volume and 86.7% in value. Armenia was the only destination for Georgian chilled chicken during the period.
