The composition of the temporary parliamentary commission established to study price formation on food products, medicines, and fuel was presented today at the Bureau meeting.
The commission will consist of 14 members, distributed by party quotas as follows:
- 7 members from Georgian Dream
- 3 members from People’s Power
- 3 members from the For Georgia faction
- 1 member from European Socialists
It has already been confirmed that Shota Berekashvili will chair the commission.
The authors of the initiative have proposed a three-month mandate for the commission’s work.

The temporary parliamentary commission will begin its work on February 5.
For context, the government’s interagency coordinating commission on prices, chaired by Georgian Dream’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, held its first meeting on January 20. On January 21, representatives of the price commission met with supermarket representatives regarding high product prices.
On January 22, the State Security Service and the Ministry of Finance’s Investigation Service entered dozens of distribution companies and food retail chains to request documentation. On January 23, the government’s price commission, as previously announced by the PM, met with distributors. On January 26, after supermarkets and distributors, the commission met with producers. On January 30, a meeting was held with fuel companies.
