GD Made No Concessions To Russia Despite Accusations Of Cooperation, Compromise - Minister

ეკონომიკის სამინისტრო

Despite accusations of cooperation or compromise with Russia, the Georgian authorities, under the Georgian Dream party rule, did not make any concessions to Russia, stated Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, emphasizing that during this period, Georgia did not lose additional territories, making it the only period where such losses did not occur.

Davitashvili made these comments during a sectoral economy and economic policy committee sitting when responding to a question from Khatia Dekanoidze, a representative of the Euro Optimists.

“Unfortunately, due to the irresponsible policies of the previous period, we find ourselves in a difficult situation and have inherited a challenging legacy. It is not an easy task to correct this, but we remain committed to achieving our shared goal that our society has, which is the de-occupation of Georgia. It requires a consistent policy involving correct, targeted steps, the continuous strengthening of Georgia, and the formation of a robust, attractive country, including our European future. Additionally, it involves fostering dialogue between our Abkhaz and the Ossetian brothers.

We believe that a peaceful political approach can help achieve our shared goals. Regrettably, the opposition cannot be our ally in this matter, as they seem to be intentionally harming our international reputation and spreading false information, even within our society. Despite these challenges, the facts indicate a distinct reality,” he stated.
