GD Parliament adopted with 82 votes the legislative package amending the Law on Competition of Georgia in its third reading.

The issue was presented for discussion by one of the initiators, MP Irakli Mezurnishvili.

The amendments propose the removal of provisions from the law that pertain to the management of the National Competition Agency of Georgia as a legal entity of public law, including the management body's (board's) and the executive director’s powers.

Additionally, the legislative package abolishes the provision that called for the establishment of a five-member management board, elected for a five-year term, which was set to come into force on January 1, 2027.
