GEL 10 million was invested in the technological development of MMT Hospital, of which more than GEL 6 million was intended for the development of robotic surgery. The hospital's founder and professor Guram Karazanashvili spoke about the importance of robotic surgery in global healthcare during his visit to TV-program "Business Week".
"In the last 4 years, MMT Hospital has invested GEL 10 million in the development of modern technologies, of which the investments in the robotic surgery has exceeded GEL 6 million", Guram Karazanashvili said and explained, that "laparoscopy and open surgery are the early stages of surgeries. Today, the standard is robotic surgery. Because it has all the positive features that laparoscopy and open surgery have together. Therefore, if we have robotic surgery today, it means we have Western, high-tech surgery", says the professor.
According to him, MMT Hospital has taken the path towards the introduction of Western standards. This includes both technological development and service.
"I got my education in Europe and worked in different countries for 10 years. I gained my license in Germany. Therefore, the standard of our clinic is facing the West. Personally, I have always tried to introduce European standards at the clinic, both in terms of technology and patient services. We deeply believe that the patient is the most valuable; accordingly, we try to put the patient at the center of attention. These technologies also serve the patient", Guram Karazanashvili says.
According to him, the clinic's infrastructure is in line with European standards. "Today, my colleagues from Europe say that we have achieved very high European standards and they are surprised that this has been possible in Georgia," Karazanashvili said.
MMT Hospital made the first robotic surgery on February 27 this year, and so far, according to the data of 8 months, it has already performed 100 surgeries.
