MMT Hospital made 100 robotic surgeries in the last 8 months - Founder

გურამ ქარაზანაშვილი

Professor Guram Karazanashvili, founder of MMT Hospital said while visiting BMGTV, that 100 robotic surgeries were made in Georgia in the last 8 months.

The first robotic surgery was made at MMT Hospital on February 27 this year, which was led by the founder and professor of the same clinic, Guram Karazashvili.

According to the professor, the number of surgeries is a very good indicator not only for Georgia but also for any European clinic. According to Karazanashvili, the people have the perspective to get medical services in the homeland instead of going abroad.

"100 robotic surgeries were made in 8 months, which is a very good indicator, even for any European clinic. The program is now open. We announced it on February 26 and conducted the first surgery on February 27. We have a huge perspective that people will get medical services in their homeland instead of going abroad.

As for the price, the cost of our service is three times lower than the prices in the neighboring developed countries. We try to keep the prices low so that they are acceptable to our population. If we look at American prices, there are higher prices compared to Europe, with the same technologies," says the professor.

According to him, the revenues of the clinic are reinvested in technologies, because their goal is the introduction and development of technologies.

"We are trying to make it easier for people to receive the service. At the same time, we are trying to develop these new technologies and take their place. That is why we finance a large part of the treatment for patients.

A new stage has really begun in Georgia. I hope that in the near future, robotic surgeries will become standard in our country because robotic surgery provides many different advantages. First of all, it is the unique precision of surgical intervention. The robot helps us increase accuracy, protect against human errors. It helps the patient to undergo surgery easily with almost zero blood loss. It helps us to discharge the patient from the hospital in 2-3 days and to rehabilitate him as soon as possible. In addition, robotic surgeries help us to standardize procedures and increase new staff", Guram Karazanashvili explains.

Professor Guram Karazanashvili adds that the robotic program has telesurgery capabilities. In the future, this allows surgical intervention to be carried out, for example, from Tbilisi to Mestia.
