Georgia’s Roads Department has completed the rehabilitation of the Gurjaani–Chabukiani–Apeni–Kabali secondary road, covering three sections — 0–5 km, 6–18 km and 19–29.6 km — with a total length of 29.6 kilometers.
The upgraded road, located across the Gurjaani and Lagodekhi municipalities, begins northeast of Gurjaani, passes through the village of Chabukiani and ends on the eastern side of the same village. As part of the project, the entire road infrastructure was modernized: a new asphalt-concrete pavement was installed, new drainage pipes were built, gabion retaining walls were arranged, and access roads to yards were improved. Updated road signs and horizontal markings were also added, and one bridge was rehabilitated.
Authorities say the renewed road will significantly improve mobility for local residents and ensure a safer, more comfortable transport connection.
The project was financed from the state budget, with a total cost of GEL 24.4 million. Contracts for different sections were signed in 2023–2024, with initial completion planned for August 2025. However, the works were ultimately finalized in April 2026. The 0–5 km section was completed by K Construction (GEL 5.3 million), the 6–18 km section by Gzamsheni-2005 (GEL 8.7 million), and the 19–29.6 km section by Giarji (GEL 9.2 million).
