The Georgian lari appreciated by 0.7% against the U.S. dollar in July 2026 compared to the previous month, according to investment bank Galt & Taggart's latest weekly economic review.

The report attributes the strengthening of the national currency to robust foreign currency inflows and an acceleration in the dedollarization of bank deposits, indicating growing demand for savings denominated in lari.

Galt & Taggart also notes that the National Bank of Georgia continued to accumulate foreign exchange reserves during the month, purchasing $612.6 million as part of its reserve-building strategy.
