Renewable energy company "Geocraft" plans to construct a 50-megawatt wind farm, along with a 110 kV substation and 35 kV underground power lines, in Georgia’s Zestaponi municipality in the Imereti region. The company has already submitted its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report, prepared by Gamma Consulting, to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and is awaiting an environmental decision before moving forward with the project.

According to the Business Registry, Geocraft is owned by Voltares Power Project LLC, directed and 20% owned by businessman David Bardavelidze, while the remaining 80% stake belongs to the Germany-registered Voltares Energy Beteiligungs. Under a memorandum signed with the Georgian government, the wind farm will include seven Envision EN-182/8.0 turbines, each with a capacity of 8 megawatts, though the total grid-connected output will be limited to 50 megawatts. The farm is expected to generate around 163.5 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.

The turbines will be located near the villages of Didtsipela, Gamoga Boslevi, Kveletubani, Marjvena Rkvia, and Etseri, at least 540 meters away from the nearest residential areas. The energy produced will connect either to the “Zestaponi 500” substation or the 500 kV “Kartli 2” transmission line. Each Envision turbine, manufactured by the Chinese company Envision, features a rotor diameter of 182 meters and a tower height of 120 meters.

The project also includes the installation of underground cable lines, the construction of access and service roads, and the development of a dedicated substation. According to the EIA, the site has been assessed as a highly efficient wind zone, with an average annual wind speed of 7.35 meters per second, making it an ideal location for large-scale wind energy generation.
