A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been officially signed between the aviation authorities of Georgia and the Argentine Republic, the Civil Aviation Agency has announced.

According to the agency, the document was signed by the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency and the Argentine Secretary of Transport.

Under the terms of the memorandum, both parties are entitled to designate airlines to operate regular flights. These designated carriers will be authorised to operate routes between any points within Georgia and Argentina without restrictions.

“The memorandum also provides for the possibility of airlines entering into code-sharing agreements, both with each other and with third-party carriers. Given the logistical nature of long-haul flights, this code-sharing model enables the airlines of both nations to offer passengers flexible flights and single-ticket itineraries between the two countries via partner (transit) carriers, without the immediate need for direct flights.

The memorandum signed between the aviation authorities aligns with the strategic objectives of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which envisions the global liberalisation of air transport, the opening of markets, and the enhancement of geographical connectivity between nations. Securing such agreements allows Georgia to proactively establish a flexible legal framework to position itself in distant regional markets and to deepen future economic and tourism ties,” the statement issued by the Civil Aviation Agency read.
