May 26, Independence Day of Georgia, will be celebrated throughout the country with various festive events organized by the Georgian Government Administration.
Traditionally, the oath-taking ceremony for newly summoned conscripts was held at Freedom Square this morning.
In connection with the 1700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion, the 2026 Independence Day activities are based on the concept: For 1700 years, faith strengthens, love unites us.
According to the Government Administration, this year’s oath-taking ceremony on this date will be the largest ever, and for the first time, conscripts will take the oath at ancient Christian churches and monasteries in Tbilisi and 12 regions of Georgia.
In Tbilisi, Atoneli Street, Orbeliani Square, Aleksandre Garden, Khazina, Pkhovi, Purtseladze and Vekua Streets will host various cultural, sports, entertainment and cognitive activities. Similar activities will be held on the central squares in the regions.
At 17:10, the entire country will celebrate the historic moment of the declaration of independence by playing the national anthem. Independence Day celebrations will conclude with gala concerts across the country.
