Georgia Finalizes New Agricultural Co-Financing Program Ahead of July Launch

დავით სონღულაშვილი

Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has completed the development of a new state agricultural co-financing program, with implementation scheduled to begin on July 1. The ministry told BM.GE that the required legal acts are expected to be published in the coming days.

According to the ministry, the program has been finalized and is currently undergoing administrative and legal procedures before its official launch. The new framework will replace existing agricultural support mechanisms from the start of next month.

A key change is that investment projects will be assessed directly by the Ministry and the Rural Development Agency rather than by participating banks and financial institutions. As a result, the state bureaucracy will effectively replace the banking sector’s initial screening role in the approval process.

To participate, farmers and other beneficiaries will be required to complete a four-stage process: registration in the farm registry, submission of an electronic application, presentation of a business plan, and uploading supporting documentation. Under the revised model, banks will no longer play a formal role in evaluating applications before state support is approved.
