Georgia Imports USD 115 MLN Worth of Wheat in 11M25 - Russia Remains Dominant Supplier

ექსპორტი

Over the first 11 months of the year, Georgia imported 460,141 tons of wheat worth USD 115 million. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the value of wheat imports increased by 65%, while the volume rose by 53.6%.

Official data shows that almost all wheat imports came from just two countries - Russia and Kazakhstan. Russia remained the dominant supplier, accounting for 79% of total wheat imports. Georgia purchased 360,400 tons of Russian wheat worth USD 91.2 million, a 31.1% increase year-on-year.

Kazakhstan sharply increased its presence on the Georgian market this year, largely due to the Kazakh government's transport-subsidy policy for wheat exports. As a result, Georgia imported 99,487 tons of Kazakh wheat valued at USD 23.5 million, whereas last year imports from Kazakhstan were essentially zero.

Small, negligible quantities of wheat were also imported from Austria, Romania, Germany, Hungary, Greece, and Turkey, but these volumes were not significant in the overall import structure.
