In the first five months of 2025, Georgia significantly increased its imports of elevators, continuing a growing trend in the construction and infrastructure sectors. According to official data, between January and May, the country imported 3,563 tons of elevators valued at nearly $12 million.

This marks a notable increase compared to the same period in 2024, when Georgia imported 2,158 tons worth $7.77 million. The growing demand reflects both an increase in construction activity and modernization of infrastructure across the country.

Top Elevator Suppliers to Georgia (Jan–May 2025)

The majority of Georgia’s elevator imports came from China, which remains the country’s dominant supplier. Here's a breakdown of the top five countries exporting elevators to Georgia in the first five months of 2025:

  1. China – $6.3 million (2,083 tons)
  2. Turkey – $4.3 million (1,222 tons)
  3. Thailand – $739,000 (113 tons)
  4. Greece – $180,000 (49 tons)
  5. Spain – $130,000 (16 tons)

Elevators were also imported in smaller volumes from the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and Indonesia, suggesting a broadening of supply sources, albeit on a modest scale.

Georgia’s elevator imports have been rising steadily over the years. In 2024, the country imported a record 7,505 tons of elevators worth $25.47 million, with China again being the primary exporter. If the 2025 pace continues, the country may once again surpass previous import records.

This surge in imports is closely tied to increased construction activity in urban areas, including high-rise residential buildings, office complexes, and infrastructure upgrades. As Georgia modernizes, the demand for reliable vertical transport systems is expected to keep climbing.
