Georgia imported 1,981 tons of cheese and cottage cheese worth $10.54 million in the first quarter of 2026, up from 1,673 tons valued at $8.7 million in the same period of 2025. Both the volume and value of imports rose year-on-year, indicating growing domestic demand.

The country’s largest suppliers in Q1 2026 were Germany ($1.7M, 318 tons), Turkey ($1.5M, 388 tons), Poland ($1.4M, 272 tons) and Russia ($1.3M, 314 tons). Other key exporters included Italy, the Netherlands, Belarus, Finland, France, and Denmark.

In contrast, Georgia’s cheese and cottage cheese exports fell significantly. During January–March 2026, exports amounted to only $236,500 and 22 tons, down from $287,800 and 34 tons a year earlier.

The main export destinations were the United States ($169K, 14 tons), Azerbaijan, UAE, Armenia, and Canada, though all in relatively small quantities.
