Georgia imported over USD 226 million worth of natural gas in the first six months of 2025, marking a 6% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Geostat.
While imports from Azerbaijan declined by 8% to USD 116 million, gas imports from Russia surged by 26%, reaching USD 110.5 million.
This shift reflects a broader trend. According to the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), gas imports from Azerbaijan fell to 775 million m³ in 2024 (excluding optional/additional volumes), while imports from Russia rose to 788 million m³, a 32% year-on-year increase.
