Georgia Plans New Wave of School Construction – Minister of Infrastructure

Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze announced that Georgia is preparing a new wave of school construction, emphasizing that improving school infrastructure is a key priority of the government.

Speaking on the issue, Sokhadze noted that the Ministry is actively addressing existing problems in school infrastructure as part of the broader education reform, though he did not specify the number of new schools planned.

The Ministry is also implementing an 11-year strategic plan initiated by the Prime Minister, focusing on developing road, sports, educational, and cultural infrastructure across municipalities to ensure access for all citizens.

According to the 2023 Government Report, a 1 billion GEL construction and rehabilitation project is underway, aiming to build 80 new schools and rehabilitate 720 more by 2026. Details on the current rehabilitation progress are still pending.
