A total of 2,140 Georgian citizens were returned from the European Union to third countries in the second quarter of 2026, placing Georgia third among non-EU nationalities, according to Eurostat. Only Turkish citizens, at 3,765, and Syrian citizens, at 2,770, recorded higher figures.
EU member states issued orders to leave to 110,335 citizens of non-EU countries in the second quarter, down 12% year-on-year. At the same time, 36,825 people were returned from the EU to third countries, marking a 9.7% increase compared with the same period of 2025.
France issued the highest number of orders to leave, at 32,420, followed by Portugal with 11,190 and Germany with 8,160.
Germany recorded the highest number of people returned to third countries, at 8,400, followed by France with 3,825 and Poland with 3,005, Eurostat data showed.
