Georgia received approximately $2.5 billion in remittances in the first eight months of 2026, marking a 7% year-on-year increase, according to official National Bank of Georgia data.
The United States was the largest source, accounting for 19.13% of total inflows, followed by Italy at 17.10%. Russia ranked third with an 11.64% share, although remittances from Russia declined by 2.6% year-on-year.
Among Georgia’s major remittance sources, Germany and Israel recorded significant growth. Transfers from Germany reached $228.97 million, up 13.51%, while those from Israel totaled $219.98 million, up 21.56%. US remittances rose 10.4% and Italy’s increased 7.7%.
Declines were also recorded from Kyrgyzstan, where remittances fell 40.39% to around $40 million, and Ireland, where they decreased 13.6% to $40.2 million. Russia remained the only major source market among the leading countries to register a year-on-year decline.
