Top-10 Countries Sending the Most Money to Georgia – Russia Falls Outside TOP 10

Remittances sent to Georgia from abroad totaled $295.17 million (GEL 772.7 million) in August 2026, down by 8.2% year-on-year, according to the National Bank of Georgia.

The European Union accounted for 50.8% of total inflows, or $149.93 million. Meanwhile, transfers from Russia dropped sharply by 87.74%, pushing the country outside the top 10 sources of remittances to Georgia.

The top 10 countries by remittance inflows in August were: the United States – $64.14 million; Italy – $55.22 million; Germany – $31.31 million; Greece – $28.24 million; Israel – $27.92 million; Turkey – $10.56 million; Spain – $10.26 million; Kazakhstan – $8.04 million; the United Kingdom – $7.29 million; and France – $6.91 million.

Russia, which ranked among the leading sources of remittances in previous years, fell to 11th place, with just $5.07 million, accounting for 1.72% of total inflows. Meanwhile, transfers from Georgia abroad amounted to $33.6 million in August, down 5.8% year-on-year.
