In July of this year, 6,154 new enterprises were registered in Georgia, which is 3.2% lower compared to the same period of the previous year.
The information was published by Geostat.
According to Paata Shavishvili, Deputy Executive Director of Geostat, the decline in new business registrations was mainly driven by a decrease in registrations of local individual entrepreneurs.
At the same time, Geostat reports that in the past month, the turnover of VAT-paying enterprises (used in preliminary economic growth estimates) increased by 9.2%, reaching 16.057 billion GEL.
For reference: in July, Georgia’s economy grew by 6.5% while growth over the first seven months stood at 8%.
