In the first quarter of 2026, Georgia recorded a slight decline in overall international arrivals, while simultaneously achieving record growth in tourist visits. According to the National Tourism Administration, the country hosted 1,300,505 international visitors, down 1.1% year-on-year.
However, the number of international tourists staying over 24 hours reached a record high. A total of 997,529 tourists visited Georgia, marking a 4% increase compared to the same period last year, despite the overall decline in total visits.
Turkey remained the largest source market with 238,368 visits, while strong performance was also recorded from key markets including the US, UK, Germany, Poland, Israel, Kazakhstan, China, and India. EU countries and the United Kingdom collectively generated 96,226 visits, up 30.2% year-on-year, with particularly strong growth from Italy, Slovakia, and Spain.
Significant increases were also seen from strategic markets such as China, the United States, and South Korea. At the same time, declines were recorded from Iran, India, and Israel, largely due to geopolitical tensions and flight disruptions, although Gulf countries overall posted 8.2% growth in visitor numbers.
