Georgia reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing transport connections between China and Europe through the Middle Corridor, GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated at the opening of the China International Import Expo.

“China has become one of Georgia’s principal trading partners,” Kobakhidze said, noting that the free trade agreement implemented in January 2018, covering nearly 95% of Georgian exports, has significantly boosted trade volumes.

In the first nine months of 2025, trade turnover reached USD 1.6 billion, a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. “This growth reflects the robustness of our bilateral economic relations and highlights the potential for further expansion,” Kobakhidze added.

Container traffic along the Middle Corridor rose 71% from January to August 2025, while total cargo transported in 2024 was fifteen times higher than the previous year. Georgia emphasized its readiness to continue cooperation along the corridor to further strengthen trade flows between China and Europe.
