Georgia will allocate GEL 58 million this year for a cash compensation program for internally displaced persons (IDPs), with funding expected to increase next year, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced.
The initiative will allow eligible displaced families that have not previously received housing or compensation to receive GEL 10,000 per family member if they choose the cash option.
Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze said applications are expected to open in the coming days, with authorities aiming to process them as quickly as possible. He described the program as an effective way to address the housing needs of many displaced families.
Housing construction and the Rural House Program will continue for families that do not apply for cash compensation.
