Georgia will begin accepting applications for a new cash compensation program for internally displaced persons (IDPs) on October 19. Applications can be submitted at Public Service Halls nationwide through November 2.

Participation is voluntary and open to IDP families that have not yet received housing or corresponding compensation from the state. Eligible families will receive GEL 10,000 for each displaced family member, with applications processed in the order they are submitted.

The government has allocated GEL 58 million for the program in the 2026 budget, with funding expected to increase in subsequent years. The number of families receiving compensation will depend on available budget resources.

All adult family members must be present when submitting an application. Meanwhile, the government will continue its housing construction projects and the Rural House Purchase Program, which officials say will not be disrupted by the new compensation scheme.
