Georgia to Purchase Generators Worth GEL 1.5 MLN for Ukraine

მთავრობა

The Energy Development Fund of Georgia has been tasked with purchasing generators to be sent to Ukraine, following an order issued by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The Ministry of Economy will allocate GEL 1.5 million from its budget for the acquisition of the generators.

According to the decree, the generators will be purchased and transported to the Georgian Embassy in Kiev, after which they will be transferred to Ukraine free of charge. The Ministry of Economy will also reimburse any expenses incurred by the Energy Development Fund in the process, in accordance with legal procedures.

This is not the first time Georgia has provided such assistance. In 2023, the Georgian government sent 25 high-power generators to Ukraine as part of its ongoing support for the Ukrainian people.

“The Energy Development Fund is instructed to purchase various types of generators, including their transportation to Ukraine, and ensure their delivery free of charge,” the decree states.

The move underscores Georgia’s continued commitment to humanitarian and logistical support for Ukraine amid ongoing challenges in the region.
