According to the National Bank of Georgia, commercial banks operating in the country earned a total net profit of GEL 1.55 billion in the first half of 2025, a 6% increase (GEL 91 million) compared to the same period last year. Out of 19 banks, 15 were profitable, while 4 reported losses.

Bank of Georgia maintained its leading position with GEL 788 million in net profit, up GEL 67 million or 9% year-on-year. TBC Bank followed with a GEL 566 million profit, growing by GEL 28 million (5%). Liberty Bank ranked third with GEL 61.7 million, showing a 9% annual increase.

A significant market development is underway, as the National Bank is reviewing a potential acquisition of Liberty Bank by Basisbank, which reported GEL 51.3 million in profit.

Among the loss-making institutions, VTB Bank posted the largest loss of GEL 43 million, largely due to operational constraints stemming from international sanctions. Silk Bank, Pave Bank, Hash Bank, and Paycera Bank also reported negative results.
