Georgian Banks Earn Nearly GEL 1.3 BLN in Profit in 5 Months – Sector Ranking

In the first five months of 2025, Georgia’s banking sector generated a net profit of GEL 1.27 billion, according to recent data from the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). Among the 19 commercial and micro banks, 14 reported profits, while 5 operated at a loss.

As of the report, the market leader in terms of net profit is "Bank of Georgia", followed by "TBC" and "Liberty". It is noteworthy that 90% of the total profit of the sector falls on two banks, the total profit of "Bank of Georgia" and "TBC" exceeds 1.1 billion GEL.

The biggest loss is suffered by "VTB Bank", whose operations are actually limited due to international sanctions imposed in February 2022.

The net profit of 1,272,865,000 GEL received by the sector in the first 5 months of 2025 is distributed according to the companies as follows:

• Bank of Georgia - 655.849 million

• TBC Bank - 485.715 million

• Liberty Bank - 51.493 million

• Basisbank - 40.267 million

• Credo Bank - 31.633 million

• Cartu Bank - 18.208 million

• ProCredit Bank - 12.623 million

• Terabank - 10.949 million

• Halyk Bank 6.789 million

• Microbank Crystal - 6.240 million

• Ish Bank - 6.057 million

• Ziraat Bank - 2.201 million

• Microbank MBC - 1.013 million

• Pashabank - 0.119 million

• VTB Bank - loss (-43.215 million)

• Silk Bank - loss (-8.907 million)

• Hashbank - loss (-3.735 million)

• Paysera - loss (-0.362 million)

• Pavebank - loss (-0.072 million)

As a reminder, in 2024, out of 17 banks operating in the corresponding period, 13 were profitable, while 4 ended the year with a loss. The total net profit of 17 commercial banks in 2024 amounted to 3.1 billion GEL, which is 14% (GEL 380 million) more than in 2023.
