Commercial banks operating in Georgia recorded a combined profit of GEL 2.7 billion in the first ten months of 2025, according to financial statements submitted to the National Bank of Georgia. The sector’s earnings increased by GEL 100.5 million compared to the same period in 2024, marking a 4% year-on-year rise and reflecting continued resilience in the banking industry.

Bank of Georgia once again emerged as the most profitable financial institution in the country, posting GEL 1.34 billion in profit - up 6% year-on-year. TBC Bank followed with GEL 1.01 billion, representing a 3% increase. Liberty Bank ranked third, earning GEL 105 million and recording an impressive annual growth rate of 11%, driven by its expanding retail portfolio and digital services.

At the other end of the spectrum, four commercial banks reported losses for the period. The largest loss was posted by VTB Bank Georgia, which recorded a deficit of GEL 47.6 million. The bank’s operations have remained significantly restricted since February 2022, when international sanctions on its parent company led to the effective suspension of its activities in Georgia.

Despite isolated losses, the data show that the Georgian banking sector continues to maintain strong profitability and stable growth. With the country’s two major banks accounting for the overwhelming share of sector profits, the market remains highly concentrated, though overall financial performance remains consistent with the trends observed in recent years.
