Rumor, a Georgian clothing manufacturer, is developing a project to establish textile production in Georgia, with founder Mariam Gogibedashvili aiming to complete the project proposal within three months before seeking investors.
Speaking to BMGTV, Gogibedashvili said local textile manufacturing could benefit not only her company but also other Georgian clothing producers. She is working with Geostat to determine the volume of imported fabrics in the specific category she plans to produce locally.
Gogibedashvili said domestic production could reduce import-related costs, lower manufacturing expenses and make locally produced clothing more affordable and competitive.
Currently, Rumor works with international suppliers, including numerous partners in Türkiye. Gogibedashvili also attends international textile exhibitions at least twice a year to keep up with industry developments and maintain competitive pricing.
She said clothing production grows by approximately 5–7% annually, increasing demand for fabrics, although the interview did not specify the market or statistical measure behind that estimate. The investment required for the proposed textile facility and the project’s implementation timeline remain unknown.
