Lasha Khutsishvili, the Georgian Finance Minister, on Thursday met Asel Djusupbekova, the Senior Director of the HR Business Partners Division at the Asian Development Bank, to review ongoing work for Tbilisi to host the annual meeting of the Bank in May.
Hosted in Georgia for the first time, the 57th annual meeting will feature 4,000 participants and guests, including Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Bank, its Vice Presidents and Executive Directors, the Finance Ministry said.
Delegations from 68 member countries, international representatives of financial institutions, the private sector, international and civil society as well as international and local media will also be hosted at the event, the body added.
Khutsishvili noted the importance of hosting an “event of this scale” for the country, which he said would ensure growth of the country's investment, economic opportunities and tourism potential.
On her part, Djusupbekova expressed hope hosting the event in Georgia would provide a “new impetus” to the cooperation between member countries of the Bank.
The meeting also involved Ekaterine Guntsadze, the Deputy Finance Minister, David Garrigos-Soliva, the Secretariat Advisor of ADB, and Rachel Obfenda, the Secretariat Officer of the Bank.
