The Georgian government has approved all necessary permits for the launch of construction on a major wind power project valued at approximately $240 million. The decision follows the endorsement of an agreement with JSC "Wind Power" regarding the start of the construction phase.

According to businessman Lasha Iordanishvili, Director of JSC "Wind Power," the 206 MW wind farm is expected to become operational later this year. The project includes the installation of 33 wind turbines, and construction had already begun based on local government authorization. With the government’s decree issued on April 8, the company has now received full central approval.

The government also approved the technical and economic feasibility study conducted by the company. As stated in the official document, JSC "Wind Power" is required to submit a construction bank guarantee in favor of the Georgian government within 30 calendar days of signing the agreement. Once this guarantee is provided, the government will return the previously issued pre-construction guarantee.

The project marks one of the largest renewable energy investments in Georgia to date and is expected to significantly expand the country’s wind energy capacity.
