Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said corruption has been fully eliminated at the highest levels of Georgia’s government, while acknowledging that the fight against corruption should continue at lower levels.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze challenged his political opponents to present even a single corruption case involving a government minister, saying the authorities would respond immediately to any such allegation.
“We can confidently say that corruption has been fully eliminated at the highest level of government,” Kobakhidze said, adding that combating corruption remains an ongoing challenge in every country.
The Prime Minister also said it took one year and five months after he took office to review and reorganize the government system. He said that since those changes were made, no specific corruption case involving a minister, the government or the prime minister had been presented to the authorities.
