Georgian, Israeli PMs Meet, Vow to deepen ties

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu met today in Tel Aviv and both leaders vow to deepen ties between Tbilisi and Jerusalem.

According to the press service of the Prime Minister of Georgia, the parties discussed the main areas of cooperation between the two countries in various fields and the prospects for further deepening the existing cooperation between the countries to a qualitatively new stage.

As the Georgian Prime Minister noted, Georgia and the State of Israel have significant experience of fruitful cooperation. Garibashvili emphasized the importance of deepening the existing friendship and cooperation with the State of Israel and noted that the partnership between the countries is always at a high level.

"The parties discussed cooperation in the economic direction. The Prime Minister noted that trade and economic relations between the countries are developing dynamically, and negotiations on a free trade agreement will begin next year, which will bring partnership between the countries to a qualitatively new stage.

At a meeting within the framework of the Joint Economic Commission, they discussed new approaches and prospects for identifying new areas for future cooperation. We discussed the positive dynamics of cooperation in the field of tourism.

Among the topics of discussion were the security situation and challenges in the world,” the Prime Minister’s press service said in a statement.

“It’s a delight to welcome you, Georgia and Israel have had very warm relations,” Netanyahu told his Georgian counterpart. “We have many, many Jews who came from Georgia, it’s a living bridge… I know that we can bring our relations to even greater heights.”
