Georgian Wine Showcased in Paris - But Exports to France Drop Sharply

ღვინო

A Georgian wine presentation and tasting event was held in Paris at the Michelin-starred restaurant Episode. Wine professionals, HoReCa representatives, and industry specialists attended the event, where they were introduced to the diversity of Georgian wine, traditional production methods, and the country’s winemaking culture. Earlier this week, a similar presentation took place at the Ritz Paris.

According to the National Wine Agency, France remains one of the priority markets for promoting Georgian wine, with growing interest particularly in qvevri wines. The agency has been running marketing campaigns in various countries, including France, since 2013.

However, export data tells a different story. In the first quarter of 2026, Georgia exported only 7,964 liters of wine to France, worth USD 43.2 thousand - almost four times less than in the same period last year. In 2025, total exports to France reached 132,991 liters worth USD 830.7 thousand, making it just the 19th largest export market for Georgian wine.

Thus, despite promotional events and claims of rising interest, Georgian wine exports to France have significantly declined.
