Each resident of Georgia consumed an average of 166 eggs, 60 kilograms of potatoes, 48 kilograms of corn, and 16 kilograms of beef in 2025, according to Geostat’s publication Agriculture of Georgia 2025.
The report highlights that food security remains a challenge, as Georgia continues to rely heavily on imports for several key food products. While domestic production fully or largely meets demand in some categories, self-sufficiency levels remain low in others.
In the dairy sector, local production has been declining since 2022, falling from 565,000 tons to 556,000 tons in 2025. At the same time, domestic consumption increased, reaching 793,000 tons last year.
As a result, dairy imports rose from 175,000 tons in 2022 to 264,000 tons in 2025 to meet growing demand. Consequently, Georgia’s self-sufficiency rate in milk and dairy products declined from 77% to 68% over the same period.
